Late 19th century, the cartouche-form frame with foliate-carved crest, with central panel depicting maidens in a garden, illegibly signed lower left ''Braquenie'' (reputedly Henry-Charles Braquenie, 1815-1897), on acanthus-headed downswept legs ending in scrolled toes, 43'' H x 25.5'' W, est:$800/1200

43'' H x 25.5'' W. Provenance: Property from a Private Collector, Beverly Hills, CA. Condition: Nicely carved. General marks, nicks, slight cracking, rubbing, minor chipped losses and dirt accumulation overall. Some losses to gilding revealing red bole, white gesso and bare wood in areas. Pictorial panel very faded and with some staining and frayed areas on right side, as visible in photo. Silk backing to reverse, faded dried and with a tear.
